LONG SAULT – Sunset Cove Retirement Living (SCRL) is committed to providing a comfortable and secure home setting for senior citizens. It is located at 53 Long Sault Drive in the South Stormont community of Long Sault and owned by Care 365 Group Inc.

Their website, located at sunsetcoverretirment.com, explains, the mission of SCRL is “to make our residents feel right at home” and treated with “dignity, compassion and respect in a safe and caring environment.”

Kelly Wheeler, General Manager and Executive Director at Sunset Cove Retirement Living mentioned that SCRL has over a decade of serving the community, with Care 365 Group Inc. purchasing the company in 2023.

In an email to The Record, Wheeler mentioned SCRL provides the community with “independent, assisted living, respite, convalescence and palliative care.” She noted residents are able to enjoy nutritional meals, round the clock nursing supervision, activities as well as “much more.”

The business provides support to seniors from the City of Cornwall, and the surrounding municipalities both in the residence as well as offering up to seven days of frozen meals to at risk seniors “if there is a storm or they cannot get out” explained Wheeler. She continued how in their Hospital-to-Home program, SCRL can “provide 7 frozen meals to seniors who need that extra help as they cannot cook at home.”

Residents are able to enjoy many social activities including scheduled trips, guest speakers, a multipurpose room, several sitting areas as well as a library filled with books of several genres to choose from. The residence was expanded in the spring of 2017, with recreation space, new lounge areas and 33 additional suites added. Wheeler mentioned that six new suites will be completed in February 2026.

Suites are available in medium, large and large suite with a dividing wall and staff happy to assist in determining the size best suited for the individual. Their website notes that following the 2017 renovations, suites now range in size from 165 square feet to “spacious 460 square foot suites.”

From enjoying a quiet time socializing with neighbours to organized local trips, there are activities throughout the year for both residents and their guests as well as community members. Just recently there was a Christmas Market as well as a visit from Santa Claus and The Grinch which added a great deal of enjoyment for both the community and residents. SCRL continues to work with community organizations such as Friendly Circle Seniors Club, Ingleside Beautification Committee, the Lost Villages Historical Society, as well as Longue Sault Public School.
