AVONMORE – Local pet lover and veterinary assistant, Alyssa Joanette, recently launched a new mobile pet care business, Alyssa’s Mobile Pet Care. Having worked in a veterinary clinic for six years and taken care of family and friends’ pets for just as long, Alyssa is looking forward to offering convenient pet care to owners across SDG, Cornwall, and Ottawa areas.
When asked why she chose to launch a business of her own, Joanette shared, “I like meeting new animals. I like the personal connection with people.”
“It’s an excuse to see more pets,” she added with a laugh.
Joanette offers services for small pets including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bunnies, and birds. Her main services include nail trims, ear cleaning, sanitary shave, and anal gland expression, with other services available by request. Alyssa is happy to travel wherever there is a demand and offers no travel fee within 20kms, with fees always being discussed before service. Alyssa’s Mobile Pet Care will also offer service days in Cornwall and Ottawa upon demand.
When it comes to animals that don’t like having their nails trimmed, Alyssa enjoys a challenge.
“It sounds kind of crazy, but I like doing nail trims on very spicy, feisty cats,” she explained, “The cats that people say, ‘no one can trim their nails’… and I can get it done low stress for the owner, I love doing that.”
Having had animals all her life, including dogs, cats, horses, goats, and more, Alyssa acknowledges it takes trust to let someone else care for your pet. Her intention is always to treat clients’ animals with the same patience, care, and attention she gives to her own.
In addition to her regular services, Alyssa’s Mobile Pet Care is in the process of planning a collaboration with Kate’s Cat Rescue, in Cornwall. Their plan is to offer a low-cost micro chipping day, as well as nail trimming, ear cleaning, with portions of the proceeds going to the rescue.
