FINCH – North Stormont recently celebrated the opening of Boxer Automotive, owned and run by local entrepreneur Brandon McMillan. While Boxer Automotive has been operating in 2 bays of Gary’s Autobody since Dec. 1, 2025, a grand opening celebration was held on Aug. 29, 2026 at the shop’s location at 14974 County Road 43 in Finch to mark Boxer Automotive taking over the full shop.
“The grand opening was an awesome day!” shared McMillan, “The turnout was far beyond what we expected and a great day to give back to the community that has been so supportive of us!”
Boxer Automotive specializes in full-service diagnostics, general maintenance, and mechanical repairs. Their goal is getting every vehicle back on the road for the best price possible.
“Brandon has been involved in mechanics since he was 15. He started off working on diesel trucks but always had a passion for automotive repairs. He has always had a dream of owning his own automotive repair shop,” shared Brandon’s wife, Moli.
From the beginning, McMillan had a special interest in diagnostics and electrical. Over the past 21 years he has worked hard to build his skills as a mechanic; he became a licensed Red Seal technician in 2015 after completing the apprenticeship program with Wayne & Mike Swales at Snake Island Automotive in Metcalfe.
In 2025, Brandon began talks of starting up his own business with his good friend Kirk Lalonde (nephew of Gary Wheeler who formerly owned Gary’s Autobody in Finch). Over several months meetings took place, plans were drawn up, and on Dec. 1, 2025 Boxer Automotive Ltd. officially opened. Brandon started off renting 2 bays from Wheeler and officially purchased the entire shop on June 30, 2026.
When asked why they chose the name Boxer Automotive, McMillan replied, “Boxer Automotive got its name from our love of boxer dogs! We have owned 4 boxers over the last 16 years – all with car themed names; Axle, Cali, Chassie, and our newest addition, Tank. Chassie and Tank attend work with Brandon regularly.”
Boxer Automotive strives to provide excellent diagnostic, service, and repairs to the local community. McMillan prides himself on providing honest and reliable service, with transparency being his main focus. The team at Boxer Automotive is looking forward to serving Finch and the surrounding communities for decades to come.
