MOOSE CREEK – Sunshine Studio Moose Creek was established in June 2025 by Sara MacDonald and is located just outside the community of Moose Creek. Its goal is to provide clients with a welcoming and supportive environment where they can experience feel-good movement while supporting their physical and mental well-being.

The business began as a result of the importance of movement in MacDonald’s life and its role in physical and mental health for individuals. She sought to “create a space where others could experience that same feel-good movement, and enjoy a place to move, laugh, connect and feel good in both body and mind.”

“I’m so grateful to be doing something I love, and for the amazing community that’s already growing around the studio. The women who walk through the doors each week bring such amazing and positive energy, and it’s truly special to be part of that.” said MacDonald

The creation of a liberating and safe space for people is an important part of her business. She explained ensuring a judgement free space at her studio empowers those attending the class to develop their self-expression and true authentic self. “We focus on making movement fun, safe, and effective, while building a strong and uplifting community of women, it’s really something special.”

Upon entering the studio, located in a recently renovated farm building, there is a feeling of welcome, friendliness and warmth from its interior and from MacDonald herself. There is a lounge space, which provides an area for clients to socialize and enjoy light refreshments such as tea, coffee or water with a change room and washroom adjacent to the space. Down the hall is the studio with wall-to-wall mirrors, ballet barres, supportive flooring and lots of windows from which to enjoy the outside world.

As well as being a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist and Zumba instructor, MacDonald continues to “pursue ongoing education to expand my knowledge and what I can offer” and noted services are available in both English and French. As safety is a top priority at Sunshine Studio Moose Creek, MacDonald is CPR and AED certified, and notes there is “an AED on site to ensure a safe environment for all clients.”

There are always challenges faced when starting a business, with MacDonald mentioning establishing the business “required a lot of preparation, research and personal growth.” She mentioned participating in the Starter Company Plus program and described this as being “an amazing experience and helped me refine my business plan while growing alongside an incredible network of entrepreneurs.”

She described how the challenges encountered during the business development and build-out, provided her with the opportunity “to learn and ultimately make the space even better.” She continued how “I’m very thankful for my amazing partner, whose support and handiness helped bring the studio to life.”

Small businesses are an important part of the local economy, with MacDonald mentioning small businesses encourage local spending, build community connections and help the local economy grow. Supporting the local community is of great importance to MacDonald, noting how she is “excited to continue growing alongside and giving back to the local community.”

MacDonald noted that recently Sunshine Studio Moose Creek welcomed “an incredible yoga instructor, Megan, to the studio, and I’m really excited to continue growing the studio with passionate instructors who can each bring their own style and energy to the community. I’m just happy to bring a little extra sunshine into people’s days.”
