CORNWALL – SDSG MPP Nolan Quinn announced $234,750 in new funding to the Cornwall Community Hospital during a press conference there on April 25.

After an introduction by CCH CEO Jeanette Despatie, Quinn first thanked the front-line workers in communities across the counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry for their compassion and caring work.

He announced CCH will receive $138,750 in funding to improve access to diagnostic CT scans. “This critical investment will not only reduce diagnostic wait times for our community but will also enable the Cornwall Community Hospital to continue providing well-rounded, specialized care.” commented Quinn in an April 25 press release.

The announcement of $96,000 being provided to the CCH Assault and Sexual Abuse Program was then announced, with this funding used to “hire a critical nurse team leader, strengthening the expertise being offered to survivors in the Cornwall community.”

Noting the importance of these two areas in the community, CCH President and CEO Jeanette Despatie thanked MPP Quinn and the provincial government for their continued support. She continued as to how the “investment align with our Strategic Plan and will make a meaningful difference for patients across our region.”

CCH Board of Directors Chair Alice Wilson-Haramis commented the need to recognize and celebrate the investments announced at the press conference, noting these are two critical areas in the provision of health care at the hospital. She took a moment to acknowledge the dedication of the staff at CCH who are working to ensure the people of the area receive good medical care.

The Cornwall Community Hospital provides community services and full-service acute care to the people in Eastern Ontario which include the Mohawk community of Akwesasne, the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
