While having Meet Me on Main St. Winchester on the main street was nice, having it in 100 Club Park made things more enjoyable for anyone who wanted to find a spot in the shade to enjoy the fun. Tinkess Photo

WINCHESTER – The weather gods once again smiled on Winchester as Meet Me on Main St. once again happened on a warm summer evening in 100 Club Park.

There was a steady stream of people in and out of the park between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and the even once again proved its value as a way for a community to stop for a minute and catch its breath. You could grab a bit at home and then stop by or make it the night out and have something offered by one of the food vendors, all while listening to the Ken Workman Band.

Many of the regular vendors were present; Simply Baked, Country Kitchen, to name a couple, and they were joined by Extreme mini donuts, Iron Forge’s Embrun restaurant, and a new addition, Bridgeview BBQ.

If you needed something to wash it down, Windmill Brewing, Kemptville Brewing and Kings Lock Distillery were only too happy to oblige.

The North Dundas Fire Department were on hand, answering questions about fire safety, smoke detectors and such, and the Township had a tent where you could make sure you were registered to vote in the upcoming municipal election, and there was also a tent from SDG. If you felt like cooling off, there was a free swim from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. as well. For the kids, there was of course the playground, but Southgate Church also had their Bouncy Castle there, and it was quite popular.

It seems though, that the summer is slipping away, and only one more Meet Me on Main Street event remains, but it should be a good one. You’ll be able to read about it in next week’s The Record.

The final Meet Me on Main Street event of 2026 will take place on Wed., Aug. 12 in Hallville at the newly named Brian Telford Park. That, as they say, will be all they wrote, at least until 2027 rolls around.
