AVONMORE – The 45th anniversary of the Avonmore Berry Farm was celebrated on Sat., July 4, with visitors able to enjoy a complimentary mini strawberry shortcake.

“It was so nice to see our regular customers and new faces!” said Pam Phillips in an email to The Record following the anniversary event.

The cooler weather, when compared to temperatures on Canada Day, provided people with the opportunity to pick some strawberries or perhaps purchase some baking, vegetables or strawberries from the on-site bakery.

In addition to congratulating the Phillips on their significant anniversary, people were able to sit in the shade while enjoying the strawberry shortcake and visit while watching as youngsters enjoying the Play Area.

She explained the business began when Duncan and Lillian Philips purchased the property in April 1981 and in 1990 their son Dave and his wife Pam took it over. Currently Pam, her daughter Megan Brownell, son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Laura Phillips work on the farm.

Throughout the growing season, people area able to purchase delicious and nutritious strawberries, raspberries, apples and pumpkins as well as a wide selection of vegetables such as potatoes, peas, carrots, garlic as well as apples and pumpkins.

The “2026 Run the Farm, Dave Phillips Cross-Country 5k Run/Walk for Pulmonary Fibrosis” is scheduled for Aug. 15, with a start time of 10 a.m. at the Avonmore Berry Farm. More information on this event can be found on their social media pages.
