NORTH STORMONT – The weather was wonderful as friends, neighbours and clients gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting and official opening of the Brighter with Blooms Farm Store on May 1. The Farm Store is located at 14835 Concession 1-2 on the outskirts of Finch, and is open Thursday through Sunday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., operating on a self-serve honour system.
Once inside the building, customers are greeted with the opportunity to investigate the many items available for sale. These include fresh flowers in season and local fresh eggs in the cooler, seeds, dried flowers, paintings by local artist Chloe Benoit, honey from Lightning Organics and Arukah worm castings on display throughout the store.
In a message on the company’s Facebook page, Miller wished to thank her neighbours, the Township of North Stormont, the Regional Incentive Program of the United Counties of SDG as well as Moran’s, and Delhey Electric.
She mentioned how “this store is truly a reflection of so many people coming together” and had a special thank you for her husband, Nicholas “who took my vision and brought the inside of this space in a way that feels so us.”
During the ribbon cutting ceremony, officials and council members from North Stormont were on hand as well as several representatives from the United Counties of SDG with Adrian Bugelli presenting Miller with a congratulatory certificate on behalf of SDSG MPP Nolan Quinn.
The public are invited to “plant the future of our farm by adding a seed or seedling to our front cut flower garden”, with Miller mentioning that the next step in the development of the business will be landscaping, noting how “for now, we’ve created a space to gather, learn, and be surrounded by flowers.”
Upcoming events at Brighter with Blooms include a flower bar on the Saturday and Sunday of the Mother’s Day weekend, May 9 and 10. On Saturday The Tipsy Mare mobile bar will be at the farm, creating and serving cocktails and warm beverages offered by Craftman’s Café. Throughout the summer there will be several special events, with more information available on the businesses Facebook page and website located at www.brighterwithblooms.com.
