EASTERN ONTARIO – On Jan. 12, 2026, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch published an email concerning the ongoing investigation into the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri.

Hajtamiri was abducted four years ago, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

Hajtamiri was 37 years old when she was abducted from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach by three suspects at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 12, 2022.

Through their ongoing investigation, the OPP has identified potential ties to Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Québec and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Investigators are appealing to anyone with information in these regions to contact police.

While several individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, Elnaz has not been located. The Huronia West OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

There is a joint $100,000 reward being offered by the Government of the Province of Ontario and the York Regional Police for information that will lead to Elnaz’s whereabouts.

Elnaz is described as approximately 160 cm (5’3″) tall with a slim build and black hair. Photos of Elnaz and previous media releases are available at opp.ca/news/#/mediakit.

SD&G OPP investigating serious ATV collision

The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a serious collision which occurred in North Stormont Township on Sun., Jan. 11, 2026.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., officers from the SD&G OPP responded to this single-vehicle collision involving an ATV at Valley Street and Nevada Street in Moose Creek, North Stormont Township.

As a result of the collision, a 35-year-old male sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The roadway was closed temporarily to allow emergency crews to manage the scene safely. Roads have since re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing, with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Collision Reconstructionist.
