The Last Column, a 58-ton, 36-foot-tall steel beam, was the final piece of World Trade Center steel removed from Ground Zero on May 30, 2002, signifying the end of the recovery and clean-up efforts. Adorned with signatures, photos, and tributes from recovery workers and families, the beam was ceremonially escorted from the site and eventually returned to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in Manhattan, where it is on display as a symbol of loss, resilience, and community.
