CHESTERVILLE – The three-day 2025 Chesterville Fair held at the fairgrounds were once again a successful event featuring the event where town and country have gathered together since the early 1930’s. This year the annual exhibition ran from Aug. 22, 23 and 24 and provided a jam-packed schedule of events for people of all ages.

Last Saturday and through the week leading up to the fair student volunteers, community volunteers and members of the Chesterville & District Agricultural Society began putting the finishing touches to the preparations. The gates and bleachers were set up, plans for Homecraft displays drawn up and locations for the vendors and midway finalized.

There was something for people in every age group to enjoy during the fair. For the youngsters there was an inflatable midway and a Kidz Zone full of activities to enjoy. There was a youth Pedal Tractor Pull on Saturday and on Saturday evening there was a Kid’s Demo Derby just prior to the event which always draws a crowd – the demo derby. Sunday featured a tractor pull which entertained with a roll of dust and the sound of engines pulling a heavy load.

Homecraft entries once again demonstrated the skill of residents, young and old with the awards presented late on Sunday afternoon and a model of the Dominion Hotel which once graced the corner of Main and Queen Streets was on display in the Agriculture/Exhibition Hall. Friday and Saturday evenings featured lived bands in the Refreshment Tent for people enjoy.

After working up an appetite there was a large variety of food vendors to choose from and if you were looking for a gift for yourself or someone special there were several vendors with a large selection of goods on site as well as a caricature artist.

Agriculture is king in our area, and the Chesterville Fair reflected its important role in our community. There were several entries in the grain and hay competition which were on display during the fair in the Agriculture/Exhibition Hall. The Summer Spotlight Dairy Show on Saturday, with the Sheep Show on Sunday and contestants in the Poultry Show on display throughout the fair under the grandstand added to the agricultural component of our fair.

As the 2025 drew to a close and people headed home, the volunteers and members of the CDAS were still at work putting the final touches to the fair closing and making sure all was well. A note of thanks has to be extended to all the volunteers, the fair sponsors and the community for making it a resounding success.
