The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens boys’ baseball team travelled to McKendry Park in Metcalfe for a tournament hosted by the Russell High School T-Wolves on Thurs., May 30, in PRSSAA. METCALFE—The Russell High School T-Wolves boys’ baseball team played host to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Falcons and the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens on Thursday for a three-team tournament for PRSSAA.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens boys’ baseball team travelled to McKendry Park in Metcalfe for a tournament hosted by the Russell High School T-Wolves on Thurs., May 30, in PRSSAA. 

In their first game of the day, the Ravens took on the St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Falcons. The Ravens defence held off the Falcons’ offence in the top of the first inning, allowing just four batters to the plate but the Falcons returned the favour in the bottom of the inning allowing just three batters to the dish. 

The Falcons were the first on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning but the Ravens’ defence held the Falcons to just one despite having a runner in scoring position. The Ravens went three up and three down in the bottom of the second as the Falcons took a 1-0 lead into the third inning. The Falcons added two more runs in the top of the third inning. 

The Ravens got runners in scoring position but were unable to score in the bottom of the third as the Falcons took a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning. The Ravens struck out the side in the top of the fourth inning and their offence cashed a single in the bottom of the fourth closing the gap to 3-1. 

The Ravens struck two Falcon batters out and threw one out at first in the top of the fifth inning. The Ravens opened the bottom of the fifth with a homer by Aiden Harps but that was as close as they could get leaving the bases juiced. 

The Falcons took the game 3-2. Scoring the runs for the Ravens were Aiden Flegg and Harps.

Ravens 16 T-Wolves 2

The Russell High School T-Wolves boys’ baseball team played host to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens in their second game of the day. The Ravens were coming off a close 3-2 loss over the St. Francis Xavier Falcons. The T-Wolves also lost their opener 8-7 to the Falcons so both teams were in dire need of a win. 

The Ravens opened the scoring with six runs in the top of the first inning and their pitcher, Aiden Harps allowed just one T-Wolf on base and struck out the other three. The Ravens took a 6-0 lead into the second inning. 

The Ravens added eight more runs in the top of the second inning taking a 14-0 lead. The T-Wolves did get three runners on the bags in the bottom of the second but were unable to cash them. The T-Wolves’ defence shut the Ravens potent offence down in the top of the third inning and scored two runs in the bottom of the third but they left the bases loaded. 

The Ravens took a 14-2 lead into the fourth inning. The Ravens scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning taking the game in a mercy 16-2. Scoring the runs for the Ravens were Brock Ballantyne with three,  Blake Madigan, Aiden Flegg, Joe James, Liam Hannigan, Andrew Purcell and Jacob Lamothe with two each and Harps and Declan Roberts each scored singles.
