Green 0 Yellow 2
Green welcomed Yellow in the 7 p.m. slot of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thursday night. Both teams were coming off losses the week before and looking to regain some speed with a win.

Yellow opened the scoring in the first period at 5:05 when Alex Roach pinched one past Green’s goalie Roxanne Crump, with the help of Jodie Hall and Amber Saddlemire. Green couldn’t get past the goal line before the buzzer sounded bringing them into the next period.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net during the second period and Yellow hung on to their 1-0 lead heading into the final frame.

Despite their best efforts, Green wasn’t able to get past Yellow’s defense in the third period. With time winding down, Yellow put the cherry on top scoring with only two seconds remaining in the game as Alannah MaCrae found the opening to make the final score 2-0. MaCrae’s goal was assisted by Shannon MaCrae and Patti Hall.

Taking home the win in Yellow’s goal was Lindsay Chambers and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Roxanne Crump.

Blue 3 Red 3
In the late game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Blue played host to Red at 8 p.m. at the Chesterville Arena.

Blue opened the scoring late in the first period at 1:20 when Kalia Backstead lit the lamp, assisted by Halley Imrie and Kelly Francis. Blue took the 1-0 lead into the second period.

The goalies stole the show during the second period, neither Blue’s Olivia Salmon or Red’s Cashelle Baldwin let one slip past their defenses. Blue held onto the lead but couldn’t pull further ahead holding the score at 1-0 going into the third period.

Blue pulled ahead by two in the third period at 7:18 when Laura Rushford sniped one to the back of the net with Marissa Imrie and Jennifer Whitteker picking up the helpers. Red fired back just over a minute later at 6:10 to get on the board as Marlee Grady made it 2-1 with help from Laura Melenhorst and Angie Helmer.

Red got the board to even at 3:35 thanks to Angie Helmer assisted by Stephanie Shane and then pulled into the lead at 2:02 when Stephanie Shane snuck one past the goal off Marlee Grady’s pass.

Red looked to take the win but Blue answered with one final surge of effort. With only 11 second remaining in the game, Blue’s Leigh Ann Dearing found her opening to tie the game at 3-3 as the final buzzer sounded.
