EMBRUN – It may be June, and the Stanley Cup Playoffs may have just wrapped up, but for anyone involved in recreational ice sports, such as hockey or figure skating, positive progress reports about the new recreation complex are music to their ears. Here’s one that will surely put a smile on your face!

The Township is now accepting requests to rent ice time for the third ice pad at the new Recreation Complex.

To request ice time, interested parties are being asked to email their request to recreation.loisirs@russell.ca and include the following information:

  • The name of contract holder
  • Their organization name
  • The applicant’s residential address
  • The type of activity being considered(e.g., hockey, figure skating, recreational use)
  • The requested start and end dates
  • Your preferred days and times (demand will probably be high, so you should have second, or even third choices in mind)
  • The estimated number of participants
  • The frequency of booking
  • Any special requirements (full ice, half ice, equipment, etc.)
  • The applicant’s email address and phone number

You are requested to submit your request by June 30, 2026. Requests after this date will be considered based on availability. Bookings and contracts will only be confirmed once the official opening date of the facility is announced. Priority will be given to local groups.

By submitting your request now, you will help Township personnel as they plan scheduling for the new ice surface.

Time to get those skates sharpened!
