For almost 40 years, members of the Chesterville & District Lions club have been supporting the community and raising funds for organizations. The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa serves children and adolescents from the local area and beyond. On May 30, 2026 Lions Jordan Hodge, Debra Kelly and Tom McMahon were busy collecting funds from people crossing the bridge over the Nation River in Chesterville. Lion Debra reported to The Record later that $2,390 were raised by voluntary contributions received during the event which lasted from early morning until early afternoon. Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
