RUSSELL – The Township of Russell would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Kin Club of Russell, its dedicated team of volunteers for their outstanding work on version Seven of Catch the Ace. They would also like to as well extend their thanks to everyone who participated in this very popular lottery and through their participation, helped raise funds for local charities.

At a special gala event held on Thurs., March 19, 2026, the Kin Club of Russell presented cheques to 25 local charities, for an amazing total amount of $3.3 million! This incredible achievement reflects the strong spirit of generosity and community support across our township.

Through this event, a remarkable $30,377 was raised for the Township of Russell to support youth in our community, which combined with previous years, now totals $90,473 received. These funds will be used to purchase youth sporting equipment at the new Recreation Complex opening this fall.

The new equipment will support the development of new recreational programming and provide more opportunities for young people to try different activities. The goal is to give youth a chance to discover new interests, socialize with others in the community, stay active, and have fun in an accessible and welcoming environment.

“The success of Catch the Ace shows the strength of our community,” said Mayor Mike Tarnowski. “The Kin Club of Russell and the many volunteers behind this initiative demonstrate what’s possible when people come together with generosity and community spirit. Thank you to all the members of the Russell Kin Club and congratulations to all the organizations that benefited from this incredible support.”

Following on the heels of the success experienced with Catch the Ace 7, the Kin Club of Russell were happy to announce at the gala the launch of Catch the Ace 8, which is starting now! This new round will support a total of 35 local charities.
