SOUTH STORMONT – Janet St. Pierre, owner of In the Now Yoga and Wellness, has been providing people throughout Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry with the opportunity to increase their well-being since 2017.
She mentioned after experiencing the benefits of yoga and similar alternative healing techniques, the decision was made to study and train in the fields so as to assist other people. Her areas of specialization are assisting those recovering from medical issues and senior citizens. St. Pierre describes the business as mobile as she travels to the residence of the client or location for group sessions, with attention to the needs of the individual paramount.
In her field, St. Pierre explained training is an important and ongoing process. This ensures she stays current with advancement in the field and increases the standard of care being offered to her clients. She has received training in Hathia Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra as well as certification in Chair Yoga and Love Your Brain, “which is specifically working with people who have experienced a brain injury, either through injury or illness” as well as training in Advanced Therapeutic Yoga. Her services to clients include massage, reflexology, energy healing, and meditation.
When planning to start up your own business, it is important to look at what type of business you are considering, what services you will provide to clients and be patient in the process, explained St. Pierre. She continued how “Being self-employed isn’t easy, it can come with many challenges but it has many rewards.”
In her field, she mentioned being provided with many rewards, mentioning perhaps the most rewarding is that of seeing people who are taking care of their emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
