ALEXANDRIA – Micheala Taillon the owner of Mackie’s Waxie’s shares a variety of different smells in her homemade candles.
If you are a candle lover you will be thrilled to hear about this business. Micheala Taillon, a single mom, started her candle business back in February of 2022, she has worked relentlessly to provide the lovely candles for people and to make a living for her and her daughter. She explained “I was tired of living paycheck to paycheck and wanted something to change” and something for her did in fact change. She had motivated herself to learn the tips and tricks on how to do certain designs or what specific products to use that would be best for her business.
Taillon had no previous experience with candle making, she just knew that she loved candles and wanted to intertwine them into her life in some way. In Micheala’s words “I love candles so I thought, why not make my own.”
Some of her more popular candles include the Cozy Cabin and Berry Melon Blast, as well as those two being some of her personal favorite scents and her scent list is always growing and changing.
Micheala has certain struggles in her business, much like a lot of people carrying a business, some of her struggles include making overstock and not selling all of it, getting supplies when the supplies needed are sold out (scents, wax, jars, etc.) and finding the correct supplies to help her business thrive properly.
When buying from a small business people have expectations, Mackie’s Waxie’s will exceed those expectations, these candles will carry a strong smell in whatever scent you choose, they will be handled with the utmost care, and Micheala herself is honest and reliable when making your candles.
Micheala knows that in order to get all of her orders completed she manages the bigger orders first that way she can budget more time with family and friends as well as being able to get her smaller orders out the door sooner rather than later.
Mackie’s Waxie’s also offer a kid friendly candle, if they are under supervision, which include a soothing lavender scent that can help children relax. Micheala came up with her business’s name by taking her nickname (Mackie) and she found something that rhymed with it, the final draft left her with her name, Mackie’s Waxie’s. She had also never heard of a candle making business with the word “Waxie” at the end, so she found something unique and made it into her own. You can easily find Mackie’s Waxies on facebook.
