CHESTERVILLE – Organizers were pleased with the turnout for the 2025 Seed, Forage and Agricultural Show (SFAS) organized by the Dundas Soil and Crop Improvement Association on March 7 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 434 in Chesterville.
Organizer Adrian Lee mentioned there 27 different businesses, organizations or individuals entering 169 exhibits and 31 vendor booths at the event. On behalf of the DSCIA, he expressed his thanks to Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association, Corteva, BASF, Syngenta and MacMillan L&L for sponsoring the event, to the organizations and individuals who sponsored the awards as well as to the volunteers, judges, vendors and exhibitors for their contributions. Lee explained that first and second place winners will advance to the Ottawa Valley Farm Show scheduled for March 11, 12 and 13 at the EY Centre in Ottawa.
Dave Pemberton received the Premier Exhibitor Award with 122 points, Reserve Premier Exhibitor awarded to Puenter Farms with 111 Points and Premier 1st time exhibitor to Carter Chambers with 51 points.
The Premier Forage Exhibitor was Dave Pemberton, the Reserve Forage Exhibitor was presented to Puenter Farms, with Champion Forage Exhibit awarded to Puenter Farms and the Reserve Champion Forage Exhibit award presented to Dave Pemberton.
The Champion Haylage Exhibit was provided to Puenter Farms, with Dave Pemberton receiving the Champion Dry Hay Exhibit. Premier Seed Exhibitor was the Winchester Research Station, with the Champion Shelled Corn award presented to Tibben Farms, with Champion Ear Corn awarded to Farmer John Inc.
The Champion Corn Silage award was won by Jeremy Rose, and the Winchester Research Station received the award for Champion Cereal Exhibit. Tim Moher received the award for the Champion Soybean Exhibit and Winchester Research Station received the award for the Champion Whitebean Exhibit.
Winchester Research Station received 1st Place Wheat in Field Crop Classes, with Cedar Lodge Farms receiving the award for Champion Special Shelled Corn Bin Class and Tara Spruit receiving the Champion Baker award.

Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
