CHESTERVILLE – A dinner out is always a great way to end the week and on Fri., Feb. 23 the Rotary Club of Chesterville held a “Sugaring Off” Pancake Supper fundraising event at the Chesterville Legion.

“Delicious,” was Kathleen St. Denise’s reply when asked about the pancakes and the smiles around the table were indicative of the truth of this statement.  The event provided an opportunity for people to get together, enjoy a dinner of pancakes, ham, baked beans, refreshments and for dessert ice cream and berries.

For the young people, a gift bag with some craft ideas as well as pictures to colour were available.  During the evening, people were able to bid for bottles of maple syrup which were part of the table décor.

A sincere note of thanks was given to the people and organizations who made donations to the event included Mike Dean Local Grocer Chesterville, Winchester Foodland, Louis Restaurant, Leslie and Chris Johnson, McM Family Farm, On The Bend Sugar Shack and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 434 in Chesterville.

Betty Vanden Bosch and Beate Stewart organized the event with the assistance of many volunteers, with Stewart wishing them “a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Smiles all around!
