ALEXANDRIA—The North Dundas Peewee B Rep Demons opened their playoffs with a pair of games against the Alexandria Glens this past weekend on Saturday afternoon in Chesterville and Sunday night in Alexandria.

The North Dundas Peewee B Rep Demons travelled to the Billy Gebbie Arena in Alexandria on Sun., Feb. 23, to take on the Glens in game two of the first-to-four-points in the UCMHL playoffs. The Demons took game one 4-1 and looked to close out the series with a victory. 

The Demons opened the scoring at 10:24 of the first period as Josh Lafrance slid one home from Jay-Zeus Mbarushimana and Jake Weber taking a 1-0 lead. The Demons took a two-goal lead when Markus Bols ripped one to the back of the net from Dylan McCarthy at 11:08 and a three-goal lead just 41 seconds later as Lafrance scored his second of the game from Weber and Mbarushimana. 

The Glens added a late first period goal but trailed 3-1 heading into the second period. The Demons took a 4-1 lead when Weber sniped one from McCarthy and Mbarushimana at 8:59 of the second period. 

The Glens cut into the Demons lead at 12:03 but trailed 5-2 heading into the third period. The Demons made it 6-2 when Gavin Eikelboom pounded one home from Reid Rankin and goalie, Kolton Belmonte just 1:35 into the third period. 

The Demons kept up the pressure and at 4:10 Tylor Dunham clapped one from McCarthy and Rankin to make it 7-2. The Demons added another goal when Lafrance completed his hat trick at 5:10 from Mbarushimana and Weber. 

The Demons scored another marker with just 1:37 remaining as Mbarushimana hammered one to the back of the net from Weber. The Glens added a late goal with just 48 seconds showing on the clock but it was too little too late as the Demons took the game 8-3. 

With the win, the Demons move on to the second round and await their next opponent. Picking up the win in the Demons’ goal was Belmonte.

The North Dundas Peewee B Rep Demons welcomed the Alexandria Glens to the Chesterville Arena on Sat., Feb. 22, for round one of the first-to-four-points UCMHL playoffs. After finishing second in the regular season, the Demons earned home ice advantage taking on the seventh-place Glens. 

The Demons opened the scoring when Nathan Epps snapped one home from Markus Bols and Reid Rankin at 8:26 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Demons took a two-goal lead as Epps scored his second of the game from Merrick Crawford and Bols at 12:02. 

The Demons took a 2-0 lead into the second period. The Demons scored the lone goal of the middle frame as Tylor Dunham fired one to the back of the net from Ryan Wilson and Gavin Eikelboom at 9:47 and took a 3-0 lead into the third period. 

The Demons made it 4-0 when Jake Weber blasted one home from Jay-Zeus Mbarushimana and Josh Lafrance. The Glens got on the scoreboard at 9:19 but that was as close as they could get as the Demons hung on for a 4-1 win. 

With the win, the Demons pick up the first two points of the series as they head to Alexandria for a chance to close out the series. 

The Glens outshot the Demons 32-28. Picking up the win in the Demons’ goal was Liam Sergeant making 31 saves.
