CARP — The North Dundas Rockets played two games this past weekend as they welcomed the St. Isidore Eagles on Saturday night and travelled to Carp on Sunday afternoon to take on the West Carleton Inferno. 

Inferno 4 Rockets 3

The North Dundas Rockets travelled to the W. Erskine Johnson Arena in Carp on Sun., Oct. 13, to take on the West Carleton Inferno, in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game still tied for second place in the West Division with the Inferno and the Metcalfe Jets. 

The Rockets opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the first period as Brad Nash sniped one from Justin Lefebvre and Jack Dewan taking a 1-0 lead. The Inferno outshot the Rockets 16-10 in the first period but trailed 1-0 heading into the first intermission. 

The Inferno knotted the affair at 7:53 of the second period but the Rockets retook the lead when Jack Van Kessel tapped one home unassisted on the power play. The Rockets took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Rockets made it 3-1 when Nick Carroll scored his first goal as a Rocket from Nash and Lefebvre at 4:27. The Inferno got to within one at 5:42 and tied the game at 11:27 on the power play. The Inferno took their first lead of the game with just 2:04 remaining in regulation. 

The Rockets pulled their goaltender in favour of an extra attacker but could not bury the game tying goal as the Inferno took the game and the two points with a 4-3 victory. With the win, the Inferno moved into sole possession of second place. 

The Inferno outshot the Rockets 37-24. Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was Emerson Hunt making 33 saves.

Eagles 6 Rockets 3

The North Dundas Rockets welcomed the St. Isidore Eagles to the Chesterville Arena on Sat., Oct. 12, in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game in second place in the West Division but had only one win and a loss and sat six points behind the South Grenville Rangers in first place. 

The Rockets opened the scoring just 1:37 into the first period as Joel Hunt slapped one home from Pierce Egan taking a 1-0 lead. The Rockets took a two-goal lead when Jack Van Kessel ripped one home from Xavier Langevin  and William Watson at 9:42. The Rockets took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. 

The Eagles scored the lone goal of the second period at 8:34. The Rockets took a slim 2-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Eagles came out in the third period on fire scoring  at 5:32, 6:49, 8:30 and 8:45 taking a 5-2 lead. 

The Rockets got back to within two when Cole Hodges tipped one home from Brett Lannin and Hunt at 10:36 on the power play. The Eagles closed out the scoring at 12:33 and hung on for a 6-3 victory. With the loss, the Rockets allowed the Metcalfe Jets and the West Carleton Inferno to tie them in the standings. 

The Eagles outshot the Rockets 34-30. Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was Caleb Gervais making 24 saves.
