WILLIAMSBURG—The Williamsburg Junior Pioneers played a single game this past week and it was their biggest of the season as they welcomed the Ottawa West Blue Jays for the C championship on Tuesday night.

Pioneers 10 Blue Jays 4

The Williamsburg Junior Pioneers welcomed the Ottawa West Blue Jays to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Tues., June 25, in the Ontario District 2 Little League. The Pioneers didn’t have a great season but ended up in the C division final with home field advantage.

The Blue Jays opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning but the Pioneers evened the score with two runs in the bottom of the first inning taking a two-all draw into the second inning.

The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the top of the second but were unable to cash any of those runners. The Pioneers took advantage scoring the maximum five runs in the bottom of the inning taking a 7-2 lead into the third inning.

The Blue Jays got two runners in scoring position in the top of the third but again were unable to score them. The Pioneers scored two more in the bottom of the third taking a 9-2 lead into the fourth inning.

The Blue Jays answered with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning but the Pioneers’ defence held runners on base. The Pioneers scored one run in the bottom of the fourth taking a 10-4 lead.

The Blue Jays got two runners on the bags in the top of the fifth inning but the Pioneers’ defence would not allow a single run. The Pioneers didn’t have to bat in the bottom of the inning and took the game 10-4.

With the win, the Pioneers became the C champs. Scoring the runs for the Pioneers were Mason Hummell and Devon Honders with two each and Cam Shaver, Brady Barrie, Dryden Buter, Dawson Coleman, Alek Larocque and Marty McLeod with singles.
