CHESTERVILLE—In week 10 of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Green welcomed Blue in the early game and Yellow played Red in the second game on Thursday night. 

Blue 6 Green 0

In the first game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League at the Chesterville Arena on Thurs., June 20, Green played host to Blue. Blue sat in first place just one point ahead of Red and Green sat in fourth, three points behind Yellow. 

Blue opened the scoring when Kaila Beckstead slammed one home from Kara Bartholomew and Marissa Imrie at 8:43 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Blue took a two-goal lead at 10:45 as Bartholomew snapped one home from Lindsay Cummins and Laura Rushford and a three-goal lead with 1:47 remaining in the opening frame as Beckstead scored her second of the game unassisted. Blue increased the margin to four when Imrie slid one home from Rushford and Beckstead with just 1:05 remaining and took a 4-0 lead into the second period. 

Blue made it 5-0 when Bartholomew scored her second of the game from Beckstead at 2:22 of the second period. Neither team was able to score before the buzzer sounded to end the second period as Blue took a 5-0 lead into the third period. 

Blue closed out the scoring at 5:10 of the third period as Cummins sniped one from Leigh Ann Dearing taking the game 6-0. 

With the win, Blue moved three points ahead of Red at the top of the standings. Picking up the win in Blue’s goal was Olivia Salmon and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Roxanne Crump.

Red 4 Yellow 2

In the second game of the evening in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Yellow welcomed Red. Red went into the game in second place, three points behind the first place Blue squad and Yellow sat in third, three points ahead of Green. 

Yellow opened the scoring at 3:38 of the first period as Jodie Hall slid one to the back of the net from Alex Roach taking a 1-0 lead. Red tied the game at 5:27 when Marlee Grady swatted one home from Theresa Schoones but Yellow retook the lead as Jodie Hall scored her second of the period from Patti Hall at 7:40. Red bounced back with a goal at 15:34 as Jessica Rutley finished from Emma Grady and Marlee Grady. The teams took a two-all draw into the second period. Red took their first lead of the game when Schoones scored an unassisted goal at 10:20 of the second period. Red took a 3-2 lead into the third period. 

Red increased their lead to two, as Marlee Grady scored her second of the game from Laura Melenhorst at 6:10 of the third period. Red hung on for the 4-2 victory. 

With the win, Red moved back to within one point of Blue for the top spot in the standings. Picking up the win in Red’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin and suffering the loss in Yellow’s goal was Terri Smith.
