BROCKVILLE – Two Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) schools made it to the podium after an exciting showing at the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Curling Championship, held Feb. 24-26 at the Brockville Country Club.

Winning a gold medal was the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) mixed team. They defeated l’école secondaire publique L’Héritage from Cornwall 7-6 in an extra end after going undefeated in round robin play.

The gold medal team members are Ella MacKinnon (Lead), Mathias Boisvert (Second), Madison Parisien (Third/Vice), Rafael MacKinnon (Skip).

The North Dundas District High School men’s team won bronze with a 10-9 extra-end win over Madawaska Valley District High School from Barry’s Bay in their final game.

The bronze medal team members are Ethan De Jong (Lead), Alex Biemond (Second), Jeremy Ball (Third/Vice), and Titus Karpowich (Skip).

Other UCDSB schools that competed at EOSSAA included Perth & District Collegiate Institute and South Grenville District High School in women’s curling, as well as Almonte District High School, Glengarry District High School, and North Grenville District High School in men’s curling.
