LONG SAULT – It was the night before Halloween and the South Stormont municipal hall in Long Sault was the place to enjoy some music, snacks and have some fun.
The Weekend Halloween party was organized by the South Stormont Fun Raisers, with SSFR president Dave Smith commenting the Oct. 30 event replaced one which had been cancelled in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Smith continued they had sold as many tickets as currently allowed under pandemic regulations and even though they were at 50 per cent capacity, “we still raised over $2,000 even though operating costs were at 100 per cent.”
The evening featured a silent auction, raffle, 50/50 draw and the music of Whiskey on Tap, a local band which opened for Captain Fantastic.
Captain Fantastic, stage name of Les Smith, has been described as the Top Elton John Tribute Show in Ontario. Smith has been performing his shows for 15 years. He commented how he tries to engage the audience in singing the songs with him during the performance.
