ST. ANDREWS–Following several months of preparation, the one-day fun event sponsored by the St. Andrews Knights of Columbus (Council 10416) took place last Sat., Aug. 18 and went off without a hitch! Under the leadership of Raymond Beauregard, district deputy, the 16-person planning team and 61 volunteers associated with this event ensured that each of the 711 guests who attended the event at the rink in St. Andrews West enjoyed a really fun day.

The fun started on Friday evening with an outdoor kids magic show and movie enjoyed by 39 young guests and their parents under tents and with warm breezes. There was certainly plenty to see and do during the Saturday! The rink and church hall were transformed into bazaars for the 29 invited vendors to share their many items. Guests could enjoy a variety of foods including; sumptuous pulled pork sandwiches, hot hamburgers, tasty sausages, delicious corn and fantastic homemade fries to name a few. The well-stocked bar provided many varied refreshments. The stage in the rink area saw over 13 performers provide entertainment varying from guitarists and a fashion show, to groups of dancers.

Outside the rink younger guests enjoyed the slip’n slide as well as the bouncy castles and train ride (which some adults took an opportunity to enjoy) under a warm sun without any rain. The successful day ended with a bang of many fireworks to the delight and enjoyment of several who stayed behind to watch the show.

The event was an excellent display of the council’s Knights, members of the parish’s Catholic Women’s League and several others working together to provide an enjoyable event. There were several sponsors who donated funds or in kind to this event. The organizers thanked them and all who supported this event.

Please mark your calendars for next year’s event which takes place on Aug. 17, 2019.
